Identifying Characteristics
Large black bee with dark wings and a pair of small white hair spots towards the rear of the thorax.

Distinctive Features
Females may be distinguished from M. lucidiventris and M. semiluctuosa by the white hair spots and the absence of white bands on the metasoma. Unlike the other two species, males do not have expanded forelegs.
