Identifying Characteristics
A small black bee with a silky sheen and a swollen yellow collar, black in the middle. Female has a completely black face and the yellow on the male's face stops well below the antennae.
Distinctive Features
Both sexes are distinguished from H. primulipictus and H. trilobatus by the partly black collar.
