Identifying Characteristics
A small, slender species like Hylaeus (Heterapoides) species, but with complete wing venation. The face of the male is black between the antennae. The female has the lower face strongly curved and the abdomen is uniformly brown.
Distinctive Features
The pale face marks of the male are glossy and those of the female are narrow and restricted to the sides of the face.
Note
Although this species is superficially similar to Hylaeus ofarrelli the two species are not closely related and are placed in different subgenera.
