Identifying Characteristics
A small bee with short, blunt mandibles. There is no break between the yellow of the collar and the yellow tubercles. The back is otherwise black.
Distinctive Features
Most males have large spines under the abdomen. They may be reduced in size in smaller males, but are absent only from the smallest individuals.
